Also known as the sacred fig or bodhi tree, ficus religiosa can be grown indoor or outdoors in warmer climates. It is an easy care plant that makes an excellent bonsi, but it does require bright light and can even tolerate some direct sun.  

Keep in well draining soil, and let dry out between watering. Let it get big and beautiful, or try your hand at bonsi and prune it during the growing season to keep it small and compact.
